“And Camera” is a personal log where I record and analyze the “light” and “atmosphere” I encounter in my daily life. This project is a culmination of my long career as a web designer, color specialist, and UX designer.
How did I feel about the scene before me? What was the thought process behind capturing that single frame? My goal is to unravel the “reasons behind each choice.”
On this site, I document my own creative trials and errors, as well as my reflections on the inspiring works of others.
I hope that my perspective on “why a photograph resonates” serves as a small spark for you to reflect on your own approach to photography.

「And Camera」は、Webデザイナー、色彩設計士、そしてUXデザイナーとして長年のキャリアを歩んできた私が、日々の暮らしの中で撮影した出会う「光」や「空気」を写真に記録し、考察するパーソナル・ログです。
目の前の情景をどう感じ、どう思考して、一枚の写真を撮ったのか。その**「選択の理由」**を自分なりに紐解くこと。このサイトでは、私自身の試行錯誤や、素晴らしいと感じた他の方の作品への考察を綴っています。

Our Story: A Legacy of Light and Nara
The Beginning: A Curiosity Inherited
My journey into photography began when I inherited my father’s older gear. As an early adopter of technology, he always had the latest equipment, and at a time when digital cameras were still a rarity, I started playing with them out of pure curiosity. The first camera that truly left an impression on me was the Canon 10D. Around the same time, I began using Photoshop to process my images as materials for my early web design studies. Over the years, my father, a dedicated photographer himself, continued to pass down his vintage equipment, which ultimately taught me how to perceive and capture the world through a viewfinder.

私が写真を撮影し始めたのは、新しいもの好きの父が使っていた機材のお古をもらったことがきっかけです。当時はデジタルカメラ自体が物珍しかったので、面白半分で触り始めました。記憶に強く残っているのは「Canon 10D」で、この頃から本格的に撮影を始めると同時に、当時習作していたWebデザインの素材として「Photoshop」での画像加工も手掛けるようになりました。熱心な写真家であった父から譲り受けた数々の機材たちは、ファインダーを通して世界を捉える術を私に教えてくれました。
The Field: From Ancient Capitals to Alpine Peaks
Based in the ancient capital of Nara, Japan, I have spent over 25 years traversing its historic landscapes. My work is a quiet, ongoing dialogue with my hometown—an attempt to capture the “spirit of place” that has resided here for over 1,300 years. Beyond the serene beauty of Nara, my passion for mountain climbing also leads me to the rugged peaks of the Japanese Alps, where I seek to capture the raw, majestic essence of the high altitudes.

日本の古都・奈良を拠点に、25年以上にわたってその歴史的な風景を歩んできました。私の作品は、長年住んでいる故郷・奈良との対話であり、1,300年もの間ここに宿り続けている「場所の精神」を捉える試みでもあります。また、趣味である登山を通じて、日本アルプスなどの壮大な山岳風景も私の大切な撮影フィールドの一つとなっています。

Gear as a Partner: Tools for a Deliberate Vision
The Main System and Beyond
While I have captured moments with various systems—from the classic Nikon New FM2 (film) to the D300, D700, Z 7, zfc, and the unique rendering of the SIGMA DP series—my primary creative partner today is the Fujifilm GFX system. The medium format sensor provides the vast tonal range and “presence” that my vision of Nara demands.

これまで、フィルム機のNikon New FM2から、デジタル一眼レフのD300、D700、そしてミラーレスのZ 7やZ fc、さらには独特な描写を持つSIGMA DPシリーズなど、数々の名機と共に歩んできました。現在は、富士フイルムのGFXシステムをメインに据えています。中判センサーがもたらす豊かな階調と圧倒的な「存在感」は、私が描きたい奈良を形にするために欠かせない要素です。
The Philosophy of Manual Lenses
I intentionally choose manual lenses, often favoring vintage optics from Mamiya and Minolta, as well as Nikkor and Carl Zeiss. For me, these lenses are essential for capturing the unique textures of Nara. Moreover, the act of manual focusing allows me to embrace a “low-tempo” rhythm—a deliberate slowing down. This rhythmic pause has become a vital part of my process when capturing the essence of Nara.
マニュアルレンズという選択
私がマニュアルレンズ、特にオールドレンズを好んで使うのは、そこに「撮りたい奈良」を表現するための独特な質感が宿っているからです。MamiyaやMinoltaを中心に、NikkorやCarl Zeissなども使い分けます。あえて手間のかかるマニュアル操作を選ぶのは、じっくりと「ローテンポ」に撮影を愉しみたいから。その一呼吸置く時間が、私にとっての「奈良を撮影する」大切な時間になっています。
