A century-old merchant house where the seasons breathe. Sitting on the veranda and watching the light play in the garden, I felt the timeless wisdom of traditional Japanese living.

GFX 50SⅡ × Mamiya Sekor C 80mm 1.9
この写真は、GFXに乗り換えて2週間ぐらいしかたってなかったので、フィルムシミュレーションとかよくわかってなかったんだけど、天気と時間がよかったのでいい光がガラス窓に当たっていたんです。にぎわいの家って、光がいい角度で入る時間があるのですが、天気なども考えるとそれなりに通わないと、これだ！と思える写真が撮れないかもしれませんね…。

I am honored to have been selected as a winner in the Nara City area for the “Oshi-Nara Photo Contest 2025,” hosted by Nara Prefecture.
I believe the beauty of this shot lies in the way the sunlight filtered through the wavy, handmade glass of Nigiwai-no-ie, transforming into such fascinating and organic shapes. My sincere thanks to the judges for this recognition.I didn’t visit these locations specifically for the contest; I simply decided to submit my work on a whim. At the time, I had only been using the GFX 50S II for about two weeks and was still unfamiliar with the Film Simulations. However, the light that day was perfect, hitting the glass windows at just the right angle. At Nigiwai-no-ie, there are fleeting moments when the light is truly magical—though catching that “perfect shot” might require a bit of patience and frequent visits.
色々と恵まれての結果
写真ってデザインと違って全部自分で整えるのは不可能なので、天気や湿度、場所の混み具合とか色々な不確定要素込みでの結果なんですよね…
そういう意味では、同じ場所にそれなりに通わないと、納得のいく写真って撮れないだろうから自分のホームじゃないけど、そういう帰ってくる場所はあったほうがいいんでしょうね。
A Result of Many Blessings
This result is a gift of many fortunate coincidences. Unlike design, where I can control every element, photography is subject to unpredictable factors—the weather, humidity, and the flow of people. > To get a shot I’m truly satisfied with, I believe it’s essential to return to the same place time and again. It’s important to have a “home base”—a place you keep coming back to—even if it isn’t where you live.
奈良町 にぎわいの家
にぎわいの家で撮影したのですが、ここは私の撮影の原点のような場所でよく通っているのだけど、毎回展示物や生け花、演出が変えられていて関心する観光スポット。
四季ごとに写真も変わるしなかなかおすすめの場所。家はかなり光が入るので、人工光源はほとんどついていないので、大体自然光で撮れる。
The Silent Sanctuary of Nigiwai House
I shot these at Nigiwai-no-Ie, a place that feels like the very starting point of my photography. Even though I visit often, I’m constantly impressed by how they refresh the exhibits, flower arrangements, and overall presentation. It’s a wonderful spot where the photography itself transforms with each season.
One of the best things about this house is the abundance of natural light. There’s almost no artificial lighting used, allowing me to capture everything with purely natural light.
